Casa Cicheti
Location:
Tiong Bahru, Singapore
naui studio has created a spacious yet cozy dining experience across an 249 square-meter space for The Cicheti Group’s new venue, Casa Cicheti.
One of our inspirations was to be coming to Tiong Bahru, not only to be part of its incredibly warm residential community but to also bring The Cicheti Group’s superb Italian dishes to one of the oldest residential estate, homes for many Singaporeans hence, the heritage. That’s how the name ‘Casa Cicheti’ was born as we would like guests to have the connections and find comforts.
Overall design of Casa Cicheti is a modern-retro journey of Italian home where organic and earthiness blends with modernity in Italian chic.
Materials and color tones were selected to blend with the Iconic Tiong Bahru – textured stucco walls and ceiling exhibited by hand, rusty metals, terracotta tiles and natural timber furniture and bare brick walls.
As you walk in, you immediately face the open kitchen, where you observe chefs in action. Stainless steel equipments and suspended dark bronze metal feature with hanging copper pots and pans instantly makes you feel warm, nostalgic and invited.
Four communal tables are installed center in the main dining area with a gloriously-scented forest of eucalyptus branches are woven with rustic suspended rod and rusty textured bespoke pendant lights, stretching across the ceilings. These communal tables are to invite convivial sharing, which have been teamed with wicker chairs.
In between main dining and private dining room, there is passage dining area where bear brick walls are exhibited and it offers casual yet unique bar dining experience as if you are in an alley in Italy surrounded by vintage artifacts.
In the private dining area, design goes deeper and a cavernous, a more intimate room with wine cellar where more than 1,200 bottles can be stored in the wine cellar, while guests have intimate dining experience in 3.2 meter dining table and the cozy banquette seating upholstered in Dedar fabric. Rich green Italian velvet fabric banquette seating allows for more intimate dinners have their special celebrated moments.
The flow of this restaurant was incredibly important. We got rid of walls that are blocking the space so moving from the entrance to the kitchen, kitchen to main dining, main dining to passage, passage to private dining room is seamless. Especially for staffs, serving warm food from the kitchen immediately to guests’ table with no obstruction.
Our design for Casa Cicheti was based on our love and passion for The Cicheti Group and truly understanding the customers of the restaurant group. And last but not least, we just want the guests “feel at home.”
